This artist, Joseph M. Getsinger, began his art career in fourth grade with wildlife art.  His Mother, Anna, promoted his artistic God given talent while he was growing up. Through his life he credits his discipline to his Father, Vincent, who gave him the inspiration and encouragement to pursue a law enforcement career.  See his father was a Camden, New Jersey Police Reserve Officer and wanted to see Joe join the New Jersey State Police.  His father was tempted into joining the NJSP, but the New Jersey Transit was better pay and he stayed there for 35 years before retiring.  Joe entered the New Jersey State Police after serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam war.  In March of 1971, Joe started his tour of duty as a road Trooper, became a detective in the Arson Unit in 1975 and completed his 26 year career as a plain clothes detective after attaining the rank of Detective Sergeant First Class with his final assignment being the Auto Theft Unit.  After a short retirement he accepted a position as Chief of Police in Westville Borough Police Department which became his last law enforcement position before retiring again in 2002.  During his career in law enforcement Joe refined his artistic talent through the tuteledge of George C. Vail of Audubon, N.J., and published his first limited print in 1974.  From that point Joe created prints of wild life, antique cars, clowns, historic buildings and evolved into fireman art related prints due to his involvement in the NJSP as an Arson investigator.  His interest was more into raising funds for burn victims which has now spanned over 25 years.  His police art started with a design created by him and his mentor George C. Vail, of the New Jersey State Police Barracks print, which depicted a uniform still life.  This has been his trademark with fire and police paintings to the present.  He has given honor to the unsung heroes of the community, police, fire, and rescue personnel.  Joe enjoys creating new art for different police entities, honoring their uniforms and dedicated officers.  Copshop.com is proud to represent Joseph Getsinger and have him on board with his art of the police profession.
